Village Treasurer
The Village Treasurer of Mt. Zion is a department head–level position appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Village Board. The Treasurer is responsible for a wide range of financial and administrative duties that are essential to the daily operations of Village Hall.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing payroll and filing all required payroll reports
- Maintaining all Village financial records
- Preparing monthly financial statements, including bills and warrants
- Maintaining official Village records
- Investing idle Village funds in accordance with the Illinois Compiled Statutes and with approval from the Village Administrator
- Preparing and filing an annual report with the Village Clerk detailing all revenues and expenditures from the previous fiscal year
- Filing a copy of the annual financial report with the County Collector
- Presenting a monthly report, under oath, to the Board of Trustees detailing the current state of the Treasury and fund balances
