January 24, 2012
The meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission was called to order by Kent Hadden Chairperson, Parks & Recreation Commission at 5:18 p.m. Roll call was taken; commissioners in attendance were Bob Long, Mike Vannoy, and Carlin Long. Also in attendance were Village Trustee Donna Scales and Director of Parks & Recreation Judy Roessler.
Minutes: Minutes from the October 25, 2011 meeting were approved on a motion by Mike Vannoy and second by Carlin Koester. Motion carried.
Public Forum: One person was in attendance.
Old Business: None
New Business: A copy of a Request for Proposal was reviewed by the commission. Staff would like for the commission to recommend that the Village proceed with the proposal for landscaping work in parks, along the trail and at the Mt. Zion Village Hall and Convention Center. Some additional items that the commission would like included in the proposal is the statement of qualifications, history of firm include a list of private and public sector entities that services were provided for. Also the commission wanted included that the supplies such as mulch and fertilizer be provided by landscaper and charged separately from the contract and that a contact person be listed at the Village. A motion was made by Commissioner Bob Long and seconded by Mike Vannoy: Motion is the Mt. Zion Parks and Recreation Commission requests that the Mt. Zion Village Board approve that staff proceed with preparing a Request for Proposal for Landscaping for the Village of Mt. Zion. Motion carried.
Non-agenda Items: the Fletcher Park calendar was shared with the commissioners for 2012 so far, there are 14 events scheduled. I also ask that if there were any requests for summer classes that the commissioners email me their ideas. Trustee Cathy Derby asks that we consider a map or markers for the Mt. Zion Trail and Fletcher park trail. I will see what type of map we can post or see if there are any Eagle scout projects that will need to be done and they can measure trails and make a map.
