Its two weeks until school starts here in Mt. Zion and that is hard to believe that summer is almost over. The traffic will increase around the schools and children will be walking to school so please be careful while driving. There is a lot of construction taking place near the Intermediate and High School areas so please be extra cautious.
Speaking of construction here is what is happening as of right now in Fletcher Park. The buildings are very close to completion, the arch with the park name is up, some trees are planted and the Sulphur Springs School house is on its foundation. The public works department is doing some final dirt work around the buildings so that grass can be planted and sidewalks will be poured soon.
With the buildings being completed the Recreation Department will have fall/winter classes in the building including the tumbling sessions, craft classes, senior classes, exercise programs and whatever else we can think of. It is so exciting to have a building for programming! As soon as we can get appliances installed in the kitchen, tables and chairs ordered and lease prices determined we can begin leasing the building for small family gatherings, meetings and parties.
As summer comes to a close that also reminds us that Pony Express Days are right around the corner. Go out and enjoy the event on August 19th – August 22nd.
